Communication tips

Be clear about what you want to say. You can prepare by writing things down beforehand and ticking them off as you go through them.
Try to listen to what others are saying.
Think about your non-verbal communication. Your posture, tone of voice, facial expressions and eye contact all say something about how you are feeling. Make sure your body language reflects what you are saying.
Face the person you are talking to and sit or stand at the same level so you aren’t looking up or down at them.
Avoid distracting gestures such as fidgeting with a pen, tapping your feet or fingers.
Confirm your understanding of the conversation with the person you are talking to.
If it's too hard to talk to someone, try writing what you want to say in a letter to that person. You could sit with them while they read it.
