Family Separation: A guide for teens
Family Separation: A guide for teens

Friends

The people close to you can help you during and after the separation. A friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, teacher or coach can give advice and support.

You may find it difficult to tell your friends about the separation. However, separated families are common. In 2006, there were 49 300 people aged under 18 involved in divorce2. If you talk to your friends you might find they have been through a similar thing, and talking about it with a friend can help you feel better.

The most important friendship is the one you have with yourself. Give yourself the love and respect your deserve.
